Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 119-12, Lamed, “staff”, (verses 89-96):
God. Abba. Father.
There is nothing of greater import than your word. It is the shepherd’s staff and your voice combined. By your word, you lead. By your word, you created. By your word, we have life. Your word lasts forever. It is our firm foundation. Your truths are always relevant, always dependable, always faithful.
We find great comfort in your word. It is our hope and our peace. It is our delight and our salvation. We will never forget your word.
Day after day, night after night, we reflect on the ancient stories through your word. And they are not just stories, but wisdom and meaning for life. When our foes seek us out, we can respond in strength and confidence via your word.
You created man and woman and all things in the earth. Each has its limits. Yet your word knows no bounds. When you speak, we are healed. We you speak, we are shown great love and mercy. When you speak, we find life, life and more life!
Thank you for your grace. Thank you for your word. It is our life.
Through Jesus.
Amen.
We’re reading through, and with intentionality, praying through the Psalms during this school year. There are 150 Psalms, divided into 180 different readings. See this post for more info.
