Psalm 148

Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 148:

God. Abba. Father.

We join with all creation today in praising you! We adore you. We honor you. We celebrate you. We admire you. We love you, Lord. You are the One True God. You have made everything in all creation.

We join with the stars, the sun, and the moon as they shine brightly proclaiming your governance over seasons. We accompany the clouds in singing your praises as they bring respite from the heat and give us water for our good. You made the heavens to last forever. Yet, we thank you for the promise that your Word, your Son, Jesus, will truly stand for all time.

We ponder the creatures of the sea and how they worship you with every wave of a fin. We are amazed at the strength of the tallest trees as they tower above the shrubs, their branches waving in adoration to you, their Creator. We see the animals of the forests as they live day by day. We thank you for our daily provision.

We stand with people of different backgrounds and races on the other side of the world who worship you. We are humbled to join your people everywhere, especially with those who speak or act differently than we do, as we all sing “Hallelujah!” We pray for unity among the nations. May we rejoice in both the things we have in common as well as the things that are different about each one of us. We are all your children. You have ordained that we all praise you, our Father and our God. Yours is only name worthy of praise!

May there be peace in The Land. May there be peace in our hearts.

Thank you for loving us all.

Because of Jesus,

Hallelujah!

Psalm 147

Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 147:

God. Abba. Father.

We sing and shout praises to you, Lord.  It is good. It is right. It is beautiful. Yes, praising you is all of that and so much more. For you are the One True God. Everything that is right is this world is at your hand.

You will bring your people back home to Jerusalem once again. You are doing what you said you would do, Jesus. You are healing the brokenhearted. You are bringing sight to the blind. You are setting the captives free. Thank you Jesus!

God, you are immense. You know each of the stars, by name. You are mighty. We thank you that when we bow before you, you lift us up. And to those who are wicked, you dash them to the ground. Teach us to be humble. We pray for the arrogant and the self-centered. May we all know your great love and compassion by the cross of grace.

We celebrate! We praise you! You are in control of this great earth. You make the rain and snow fall. The earth obeys your commands. You are our provider. We always have enough. It is hard for us to understand this truth: you delight in us. We are your people. We trust you. We worship you. You bless us.

You allow us to live in peace. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the Land of Israel. May your Kingdom come to the Land, and all the earth, as it is in heaven.

We shout praises to your holy name!

We thank you for Jesus,

Amen.

Forgive us when we elevate family, friends, jobs, or even churches and their leaders over you. Our greatest hope and confidence in this life is in you, the One True God. You are the one who blesses us. Thank you.

You are the one who made the heavens and the earth. You always keep your promises to us. You are faithful to all. We thank you for seeing that justice is given to the poor and the wronged. You feed the hungry. You free us all from those things that hold us back. You help us all to see the people of this world as you see them. You lift us up when we stumble and fall. You defend the orphan and widow. You love those who worship you.

You will reign forever and ever. You are in control. You are the God of the universe. You care for the plans of governments and desire peace among the nations. Yet you also care for how things are going in our lives and among our families. We are humbled by your love for us.

We praise you. We proclaim our love to you.

Psalm 143

Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 143:

God. Abba. Father.

Hear our prayer. You are faithful and true. We trust you. We know you will come to our aid. We ask for your wisdom today. We know we are sinners. We all are. There is only one who is perfect. And through the grace of Jesus, we know we have mercy.

Some days we don’t have a clue. We are in darkness. Nothing we do is right. There are people and spiritual forces all around us that want to harm us, that want to defeat us. Our hearts are heavy. We are crushed. We are weary. We can’t do enough to climb out of this pit.

And then, we remember your faithfulness. You have always been unswerving, Lord. Thank you! We stretch out our hands lifting them high above our heads, palms up to receive from you, just a like a small flower growing from a rocky crag in the desert. We plead: “Come Holy Spirit, fill our thirsty souls!”

As this new day dawns, we desire you more than anything. The sky is filled with streaks of orange and blue and white. We are thankful for fresh starts. We know you will teach us today. You will wrap your arm around our shoulders and show us the way to go. You do this every single day because you love us. You are our God. Your gentle Spirit leads us in the way we are to go.

We are your servants. Protect us from evil. We love you.

We thank you for Jesus.

Amen.

Psalm 142

Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 142:

God. Abba. Father.

We thank you for being with us today. Even if no one else is. When we are alone and our heart is full of worry and trouble, you are here to listen and comfort and guide us to the truth. You show us the way to go. You watch over our coming and our going. You care deeply for us. Thank you!

You are our hiding place. You are our safe place. Only you truly know us. You are our strength. Even when we are weary. Even when we are grumpy. Even when we feel trapped in our homes or in the perfect relationship or with the best job. Remind us today that Jesus came to free us all from those things that hold us back. Jesus came to heal our broken hearts. Jesus came to show us the way to see the truth. You are our rescuer, our lifeline. We grab onto your outstretched arm.

We will praise you and tell others of how you set us free, how you healed our hearts and how you opened our eyes. You have given us friends that will celebrate and praise you with us. We rejoice in your blessings to us.

Because of Jesus,

Amen.

Psalm 141

Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 141:

God. Abba. Father.

Thank you for hearing our voices when we call out to you. You are the One True God. May our prayers be pleasing to you, as sweet as the fragrance of lavender. We lift our hands to you. With humility, we offer ourselves and surrender to your loving plans for our lives.

Help us to post a spiritual sentry over our hearts and mouths so that we will only think good of others and speak words of comfort or encouragement. Protect us from the evil one or those who conspire wickedness. May we accept correction with kindness and grace, as you have offered love and compassion to us.

Let us keep our eyes fixed on our Messiah, Jesus, who is our shepherd, our leader, our coach, our savior, and our friend. With joy, he endured suffering and scorn. With strength, he stood his ground against evil. With vision, he knew that his battles were not with the people who nailed his arms to a cross.

You are our Lord, our God, and King. We hold our hands out to you. Protect us. Lead us. Guide us with your Holy Spirit. The wicked will fall into their own traps. We will not be harmed.

Thank you, Jesus.

Amen.

Psalm 140

Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 140:

God. Abba. Father.

Thank you for rescuing us! There are people in this world who are cruel to us. They intentionally stir up trouble, thinking of ways to bring us down. They hate with ease. They are arrogant. The words they speak are like venom. Keep us safe from those who are truly wicked. Forgive us when we act or ramble as they do.

You are strong and mighty. God, you are the giver of life. You have defeated death, so we know you will overthrow those who trade in destruction and planning evil. Hear our prayer. We know you are the One True God. You are merciful and full of great compassion. You are our deliverer. Thank you for answering us when we cry out to you.

Don’t let the corrupt succeed. Some days, it seems like they are at the top and running everything. Please, don’t let their plans prevail. Let them get tangled up in their own deceit and mischief.

We believe in justice, your justice. When we ask you to care for the fatherless, let us be part of the solution. When we ask you to care for the poor and destitute, let our hands bring comfort. May our actions point to you, our great King.

We are humbled that you look after us. We are called good, only because of your grace given to us. We praise you and thank you for Jesus. It is not our works that allow us to be in your presence, but it is his compassion for us. You have redeemed us with us an outstretched arm. Jesus’ arms on the cross.

We love you and praise you.

Thank you.

Because of Jesus,

Amen.

Psalm 139

Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 139:

God. Abba. Father.

Thank you for seeing us. You know when we rise, when we eat, when we work. More than that, though, you know our thoughts and our hearts’ desires and dreams. You know everything about us in a deep, intimate way. Why, even before we speak, you know what we’re going to say. It is such a comfort to our souls to have someone nearby who knows us so well. Yes, you are a constant delight. We are free to just be ourselves in your presence. No masks or acting a certain way for you. No compartmental thinking. And even though you know everything about us, you continue to love us. You protect us. Thank you!

Everywhere we go, you are with us. We recall the name of your Son, Emmanuel, which means, “God with us.” From mountain tops to beaches, from the city to the forest, from our home to our place of worship, you are there. Daytime. Nighttime. Dawn. Sunset. There is no place we can go where you are not a whisper away. While it is a joy to be in your presence, remind us that we cannot hide from you either. Up in the sky, or out in the ocean, or even under the covers when we are afraid, you are by our side.

You have seen us from the moment of conception. You are the Master craftsman. You put us together, piece by piece. We marvel at how you created us. We praise you! All our days are numbered, until we leave this place and move to an eternal home.

You are always thinking about us and our good. When we do the math: All of your thoughts and plans for each person in the world… we cannot quantify it. Not in our minds, nor in any man-made computer. You are amazing and precious to us at the same time.

Whether the morning sun brings fog, rain, crisp fallen snow, or plenty of sunshine, each new day is fresh and beautiful. A new start. We delight in knowing you are with us.

Protect us Lord. Keep us from evil. Search our hearts. Forgive us. Lead us so that we may walk as you have ordained, as you have planned for us.

Thank you for this life. Thank you for being near, and dear, to us. You are great and worthy of all praise and all glory.

Through Jesus.

Amen.

Psalm 138

Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 138:

God. Abba. Father.

We praise you! We raise our hands to heaven. We kneel before your throne. We fall face-down in humility and prayer. You have been so faithful. Day after day, month after month, year after year, decade after decade. You have never stopped loving us. You have never stopped caring for us. Thank you!

We have the courage and strength to face each new day because you have answered when we have asked for your help. We shake our heads in wonder, with gratitude, at your abundant compassion. We are not worthy.

Today we pray for each world leader, each corporate leader, each government leader, each ministry leader, each family leader. May the kings of the earth praise you. May they recognize your sovereign hand in their blessing.

You are high and lifted up. You are the One True God. And you care for each one of us. Though we may stumble or have troubles today, you will save us. Your right hand is ever close to us. Jesus. And He will keep us safe. He will deliver us. He will rescue us. For He has overcome the world! Thank you, Jesus!

Our Messiah, we thank you that our story is not finished. You have many chapters in our lives yet to write. You will not give up on us. You will not abandon us. Your love never fails.

We praise you.

Thank you for your grace, Jesus.

Amen.

Psalm 137

Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 137:

God. Abba. Father.

There are seasons when we walk in great pain. When others have hurt us with both words and actions. And all we do is weep.

May we remember our sorrow as a time of your comforting presence, for you are always with us. When friends or family have passed away, may we recall that you mourn with us. When we have been attacked, or we carry the burden of a loved one who has faced challenging times, may we be assured that you have also suffered greatly. You urge us to recover our lives with you, to allow you to carry our burdens, to find rest in your loving arms of grace. Your perfect peace is as close as our next breath.

You are the great I Am. You are the One True God. You are the holy judge. Give us confidence to believe you will sort out the evil from the righteous. Your design is that we will all walk with you forever. Yet there are some who turn their backs on your mercy. May you deal with them as you see fit. We will trust your scales of justice.

We pray for peace to prevail in Jerusalem. We pray for our children and our children’s children. May your blessing be upon them all.

We thank you for your grace and forgiveness, for we deserve neither. We love you Lord.

We thank you for Jesus.

In His name,

Amen.
