Here is today’s prayer from Psalm 141:
God. Abba. Father.
Thank you for hearing our voices when we call out to you. You are the One True God. May our prayers be pleasing to you, as sweet as the fragrance of lavender. We lift our hands to you. With humility, we offer ourselves and surrender to your loving plans for our lives.
Help us to post a spiritual sentry over our hearts and mouths so that we will only think good of others and speak words of comfort or encouragement. Protect us from the evil one or those who conspire wickedness. May we accept correction with kindness and grace, as you have offered love and compassion to us.
Let us keep our eyes fixed on our Messiah, Jesus, who is our shepherd, our leader, our coach, our savior, and our friend. With joy, he endured suffering and scorn. With strength, he stood his ground against evil. With vision, he knew that his battles were not with the people who nailed his arms to a cross.
You are our Lord, our God, and King. We hold our hands out to you. Protect us. Lead us. Guide us with your Holy Spirit. The wicked will fall into their own traps. We will not be harmed.
Thank you, Jesus.
Amen.
We’re reading through, and with intentionality, praying through the Psalms during this school year. There are 150 Psalms, divided into 180 different readings. See this post for more info.
